Obituary

Janice M. Grande, 86, of Farrell, passed away Sunday evening, December 29, 2024, in Avalon Springs Nursing Home, Mercer.

Mrs. Grande was born September 10, 1938, in Farrell, a daughter of the late Michael and Margaret (Nesselhoff) Zelch, and graduated from Farrell High School in 1956.

Following graduation, Janice worked as an office clerk at the former Sharon Transformer Division of Westinghouse Electric Corp.

On November 5, 1966, she married, Harry T. Grande, and together they enjoyed 48 years of marriage prior to his passing on March 8, 2015. Jan was a loving and devoted wife and wonderful mother who truly adored her family, including more than a dozen grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Jan was a quiet, kind-hearted person led by faith and a giving spirit. She was a lifelong member of Our Lady of Fatima Church, Farrell.

Jan's pride in her family was evident as she supported them through struggles and celebrated their accomplishments big and small. She was proud of their many talents when it came to music, sports, and more, and she attended performances and games whenever she could. While Jan often had a serious demeanor, she had a sparkle that showed itself frequently with her grandchildren – from funny stories and silly sayings to showing her grandson how to ride his first scooter like a pro.  In her younger years, Janice also enjoyed playing golf with her husband and son.

As a grandmother, she enjoyed board games and watching videos, celebrating the time she got to spend with her family.

Janice is survived by her children, Tony Grande and his wife, Lisa, Hubbard, OH, Trisha Grande, Richmond, VA, Lisa (Grande) Monti, Erie, PA, and David Grande and his wife, Kirsten, Sharon, PA. She will be dearly missed by her "Grande"-children, Jeremy, Maria, Madeline, Nathan, Brianna, Marissa, Andrew, Justin, Olivia, Emily, and Ally; and by her great-grandsons Jeremy Jr., Marvin and Malcolm, and Tommy. She will be dearly missed by her sisters, Peg Lengyel and Mickie Gligor, and their families.

In addition to her parents and husband, Janice was preceded in death by an infant son, Stephen, and her oldest son, Thomas.
