IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Janet R.
Vernille
July 6, 1937 – July 25, 2022
Janet R. Vernille, 85, of Hermitage, passed away Monday morning, July 25, 2022, in her home.
Mrs. Vernille was born July 6, 1937, in Youngstown, OH, a daughter of the late Andrew and Rose (Rafi) Blasko. She attended St. Brendan's Parochial Grade School, Chaney High School and Youngstown State University. She also attended the H&R Block Income Tax School, and completed numerous income tax and computer classes.
Janet was a tax preparer for more than 40 years, retiring in 2018. She began her career working for H&R Block, later opening an office at her home. She told all of her clients that the office was like Las Vegas, "whatever was discussed in the office remained in that room." Her clients also became her friends, all of whom knew they could trust her with their secrets.
Janet was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Church, Farrell. She also belonged to the American Business Women's Association's Mill Creek Chapter in Youngstown, OH, and was appointed to the Joint Visitors Committee by Judge Henderson, a board that inspected the local Mahoning County jails.
When her children were younger, she was a Girl Scout Leader and kept score for her son's baseball teams.
In 1988, she married John Vernille, Sr. and they did quite a bit of traveling. They stayed at many Caribbean Islands for ten days at a time, sometimes taking three vacations a year. They also went to Jamaica, Negril and Puerto Vallarta. She also found joy in traveling the United States, namely, Bar Harbor, ME; San Francisco, CA; San Antonio, TX; and the coast of California. She encouraged everyone she met to see as much of our beautiful country as possible, often telling them to "pick a spot and go."
Janet was a strong advocate of the belief that parents remain involved in raising their children and not bestowing the whole commitment to the school system.
She is survived by her husband; four children, Lorraine Fedorisin Beach (Randy), Joyce Mayer (Marty, Sr.), Harry Joel Benchwick (Rachelle), and Barry Andrew Benchwick (Tresa); two stepchildren, Paul Vernille (Michelle), and Amber Runyan; 19 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Don Blasko (Shirley).
In addition to her parents, Janet was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Al Fedorisin; and three stepchildren, John Vernille, Jr., Valerie Lasch and Jeffrey Vernille;
