IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Janet Maureen
Rosencrans
February 23, 1944 – February 4, 2024
Janet Maureen Rosencrans, 79, of Hermitage, passed away on Sunday, February 4, 2024, in St. John XXIII Home.
Mrs. Rosencrans was born on February 23, 1944, in Julesburg, CO, a daughter of the late Francis Marion and Gladys May (Wize) Johnson, Sr.
Janet has been here, there and everywhere following her graduation from Julesburg High in 1962. She earned her bachelor's degree in home economics with a minor in mathematics from Colorado State University. Her first position following graduation was as an extension agent in Towner, ND. That is where she met her husband, Truman Rosencrans. Following their marriage in 1969, they lived in Nebraska and Wyoming and eventually made their home in Minot, ND, where her husband took a position as a civilian employee at the Minot Air Force Base. They welcomed two daughters, Melanie and Diane. During this time, she took some years off to raise the children.
As the girls got older, Janet worked outside of her home again. Major projects included assisting with compiling the Ward County Centennial Book (1986), and the ND State Centennial Quilt (1989).
Much of Janet's time was spent as the main leader for her daughter's 4-H Club, bowling in leagues and competing at the North Dakota State Fair. She was also a member of the Mouse River Loop Genealogical Society, where she enjoyed countless hours at potluck meals and time sharing.
When she had time, she loved to travel, making many trips around the USA and notably a trip to Scotland with her college roommate, Jan Irvine, and a trip to Australia with her daughter, Diane.
Her husband, Truman, passed away in 1995. She kept the home in ND until 2014 when she moved to Pennsylvania to be closer to her daughter, Melanie.
She is survived by her two daughters, Melanie Cole and her husband Michael, Sharpsville, and Diane Brewer and her husband Wm. Brian, Longview, TX; five grandchildren, Blaine, Barley and Brody Brewer, and Henry and Alice Cole; and a brother, Frank Marion Johnson, Jr. and his wife Ivy Joy, Julesburg, CO.
In addition to her parents and husband, Janet was preceded in death by two brothers, Hollis Morris and Clarence "Red" Melvin Johnson.
The family suggests memorial contributions be directed to the Alzheimer's Association, at www.Alz.org; or the Mouse River Loop Genealogical Society, M.R. Loop Genealogy, PO Box 1391, Minot, ND 58702.
