James F. Swogger of 2633 Romar Drive, Hermitage, formerly of Sharpsville, passed away peacefully at 8 a.m. Friday (11-26-10) in his residence with his family at his side after an extended illness. He was 64.
Mr. Swogger was born Sept. 26, 1946, in Sharon, a son of Frank L. and Hazel T. Haney Swogger. He was a 1964 graduate of Sharpsville High School.
Prior to his illness, Mr. Swogger was employed for 11 years at Mercer Forge Corp., Mercer. He previously worked for 11 years for Custom Materials in Chagrin Falls, Ohio, and for 20 years at the former Sharon Transformer Division of Westinghouse Electric Corp. in the F-10 Building.
Jim was of the Presbyterian faith and enjoyed fishing and playing video games. He served with the U.S. Army Reserves, Farrell.
Surviving are: his wife, the former Margaret I. 'Peggy' Hanley, whom he married Sept. 2, 1967; a daughter, Jennifer Y., Farrell; a son, James F. Swogger and his wife Jeri, Winchester, Va.; five grandchildren, Brittany Swogger, whom he and his wife raised, at home; Logan and Maddison Swogger; and Gregory and Nicholas Kelecseny; four brothers, Frank L. Swogger and Timothy Swogger, both Sharon; Daniel Swogger, Florida; and David Swogger, Sharpsville.
In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas Swogger.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Sharon Regional Hospice and Palliative Care, 2320 Highland Road; or Cancer Care Center, 2320 Highland Road, both Hermitage, PA 16148.
