Obituary

James A. Scott, 1107 Brentwood Dr., Greenville, PA passed away at 6 a.m. Saturday (7-9-11) in Countryside Convalescent Home, Mercer. He was 79.

Mr. Scott was born December 29, 1931 in Sharon a son of the late Abner H. and Alice L. Whalen Scott.

He attended the former Sacred Heart Parochial Grade School and was a 1951 graduate of Sharon High School.

Mr. Scott was employed as an assembler at the former Sharon Transformer Division of the Westinghouse Electric Corp. for 27 years before retiring in 1984. He returned to the workforce in 1986 as a welder for Amweld Corporation, Niles, Ohio, retiring again in 1992.

Mr. Scott was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church, Greenville and a former member of Church of the Sacred Heart, Sharon. He was an assistant scout master for many years with Troop # 4 in Sharon. Jim was a charter and lifetime member of the Reynold's VFW, Post # 7599, where he held many offices throughout the years.

He served as a military police officer with the US Army during the Korean conflict. His wife, the former Mary Lou Fair, whom he married April 21, 1956, passed away April 6, 2008.

Surviving are: three daughters, Suzanne Holiga and her husband Raymond, Greenville; Paula Visniesky and her husband Martin, Mercer; and Sharon A. Contras and her husband Lester, Seattle, WA; a son, James A. Scott, Transfer; eight grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.

Besides his parents and wife, Jim was preceded in death by a brother, William H. Scott.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the American Diabetes Association.
