James J. Ryan of 387 Ellsworth St. Sharon, PA passed away at 4:03 p.m. Wednesday, February 10, 2010 at Sharon Regional Health System. He was 86.
Mr. Ryan was born in Sharon, PA on May 16, 1923, a son of James J. and Ethel Mae Wills Ryan.
James attended Sharon High School. Following school he joined the United States Army and served in Company C. 1880th Engineers Battalion during World War II.
He retired from the Sharon Transformer Division of the Westinghouse Corporation, working in numerous positions throughout his 30 years of employment.
Mr. Ryan is a member of the Church of the Sacred Heart, where he was an usher. He enjoyed studying history and working on household electronics. Most of all James was a giving man of his time and monetary contributions to those in need.
Survivors include: his sister, Margaret Ryan with whom he made his home; a brother, John Michael and his wife Antoinette Ryan of Sharon; He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, James was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Thomas and William Ryan; a sister, Patricia Logan.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, February 15, 2010 at 11 a.m. in the Church of the Sacred Heart with Rev. Henry Andrea. A procession will leave the funeral home at 10:30 a.m. for mass.
Internment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.
