Obituary

James D. 'Mooch' Parcetich, 309 Pershing Dr., Farrell, passed away unexpectedly Saturday morning (3-13-10) at his home. He was 64.

Mr. Parcetich was born Jan. 9, 1946 in Farrell a son of the late Walter and Agnes Bicek Parcetich.

He was a lifelong resident of Farrell and a 1963 graduate of Farrell High School.

During high school, Mooch served as one of the basketball managers for legendary coach, Ed McCluskey.

Following graduation, he went to work at Sharon Steel Corp.'s former Farrell plant in the transportation department and remained with the mill when it became Caparo Steel Co. and later, Duferco Steel Co. He retired from Duferco in 2008 with 37 years of service. Mooch enjoyed bowling and belonged to several leagues throughout his life.

His first love however, was golfing. He was a member of 'The Herd' golf group, which golfed 365 days a year, weather permitting, and was a familiar face at the Hickory VFW Golf Course in Hermitage where the Herd often hit the links. He once served as the course groundskeeper at the VFW course and was known as the 'Green's Nazi'. Mooch and his buddies took many golfing trips during his life. He was a regular at the Linden Hall, and Cedarbrook golf outings each year and once traveled to Europe to golf St. Andrew's famed course in Scotland. He scored several aces, or hole in ones, over the years including Tam O'Shanter's notorious hole # 14 'Death Valley', and recently # 7 at Cedarbrook Golf Club, Belle Vernon PA. Mooch was quite the character and will be remembered by many for his hilarious antics. Although very giving and quiet at times, he was extremely funny and could light up the room with his presence. He will be sorely missed by his family and friends.

Surviving are his eight sisters and three brothers: Helen Simonik, Farrell; Marie Brindisi and her husband David, Farrell; Walter Parcetich and his wife Patricia, Sharon; Gloria Parcetich, with whom he made his home; Margaret Longley, Universal City, TX; Carl Parcetich and his wife Darlene, Mercer; Julianne Horvath, Girard, Ohio; Carol Anne McCartney and her husband Robert, Gilbert, AZ; Mary Ann Snowball, also Gilbert, AZ; Rose Zipay, Sharpsville; and Jeffrey Parcetich, also with whom he made his home; several nieces, nephews; great nieces and nephews; and his companion of 19 years, Carol Feltovich, Hermitage.

Besides his parents, Mooch was preceded in death by a brother, Michael who died in infancy; and three brothers-in-law, Jerry Snowball, Bill Horvath and Thomas Simonik.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Hickory VFW Golf Course, 4586 E. State St., Hermitage, PA 16148.
