James "Jim" Hice, of Masury, passed away at 10:15 a.m. Thursday, September 29, 2016 in his residence. He was 48.
Mr. Hice was born November 11, 1967, in Sharon, a son of Floyd and M. Lamond (Matthews) Hice. Jim was raised in Sharon and graduated from Sharon High School in 1987. Following high school he enlisted in the US Army, and he served during the Gulf War, working as a heavy anti armor weapons infantryman. As a civilian, he began his own painting company; later worked for Ziggy Besser, Chardon, OH; Commercial Property, Sharon; and lastly, Uniserve in Masury until he became disabled.
Jim was a fan of the Pittsburgh Penguins and Steelers. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, being outdoors and family time.
Surviving are: his wife, the former Donna Hedglin, whom he married July 8, 2006. Also surviving is his mother, M. Lamond Hice Rupert and her husband Robert, Masury; a son, Michael James Hice, at home; a step son, Donald Robideau and his wife Shirley, Jackson Center; two sisters, Deborah Jewell, Greenville; and Dorothy Crane and her husband David, Pittsburgh; a brother, John Hice and his wife Karen, Masury; a granddaughter, Isabella Marie Robideau; and several nieces and nephews.
Jim was preceded in death by his father and brother, Richard Hice.
The family suggest memorial contributions be made to the funeral home.
Calling hours will be Tuesday, October 4, 2016, from 4:00 until the time of service in J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 1090 East State St., Sharon. Funeral services will be held at 6 p.m. with the Rev. Robert McFarland, from Chestnut Ridge Church of God, officiating.
