Obituary

James C. David, 67, of Mercer, hated when obituaries did not include the details on why or how people passed, so here it goes, for Jim. He was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia on April 1, 2024, an incidental finding when he went in for a heart catheterization. Jim underwent chemo to try to get the cancer under wraps, but it was determined that if a bone marrow match could be found, a transplant was his best chance for a cure. Thanks to the priceless and generous donation from a stranger in Germany, he did get that transplant. It cured his leukemia, but the multiple chemo sessions, transplant, and graft versus host disease left him with no immune system. He was battered by various viruses, bacterial infections, and gut issues which took a huge toll on his body. He succumbed to significant lung damage, passing peacefully on October 16, 2024, in West Penn Hospital, Pittsburgh, PA, after all the lines and machines were removed.

James was born on July 10, 1957, to Joseph and Helen (Olenik) David and graduated from West Middlesex High School in 1975. He was a long-time employee of Waste Management and then held several positions with local companies before he retired. He loved working on classic cars or anything with a motor, and lived for his annual trips to Las Vegas and Clearwater Beach.

Jim is survived by his wife Judy, whom he married May 7, 1986; a daughter, Katie, and her husband, Tim, of Grove City; and a son, Jon, of Penn Hills, PA. He is also survived by his loving sister, Barbara Urban; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, in-laws, and friends. He is already missed.

Jim loved his pets, especially our golden, Riley, and his Bengal cats, Mason and Maddy, along with multiple other dogs and cats. He despised Pres #45, and wanted to make sure everyone knew it.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Joe, Fran, and Steve; and a sister, Carol.
