James R. Campbell, Sr., 80, of West Middlesex, passed away on January 30, 2025, in Kissimmee, FL.

Born on May 18, 1944, in Baltimore, MD, James was the son of the late Dotsey and Beulah Bessie (Pegues) Campbell. He was a standout athlete during his time at Farrell High School, and sports remained a significant part of his life. He played for and later coached the former Shenango Valley Blasters, a semi-professional football team.

James proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy. After his honorable discharge, he worked at Wheatland Tube, retiring as a Pettibone driver.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn Campbell; his daughter, Sonya Boothe; his parents, Dotsey and Beulah Campbell; and siblings Cornell Pegues, Jerome Campbell, Carolyn Lampkins, and Gwendolyn Blackwell.

James leaves loving and lasting memories to his daughter; Jacqueline Newman of Sharon, PA; son, James Campbell Jr. of Struthers, OH; a step-son, Thomas Blance (Jill) of Hermitage, PA, adoring grandchildren; great-grandchildren; a sister, Diana Jones; a brother, Donald Campbell (Lee); nephews and nieces, cousins and dear friends.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 1090 East State Street, Sharon.

The funeral service will be on Wednesday, February 19, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by interment at Hillcrest Memorial Park, Hermitage.
