Obituary

James Robert Campbell, 455 S. State Line Rd., Sharon, PA passed away at 5:55 a.m. Friday (1-08-10) in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System following a period of failing health. He was 82.

Mr. Campbell was born January 6, 1928 in Sharpsville a son of the late Joseph Walter and Myrtle Ann Fisher Campbell.

A lifelong area resident he attended school in Transfer. Mr. Campbell retired in 1990 as a physical tester in the metallurgical department of Sharon Steel's former Farrell plant where he was employed for 44 years.

He was a member of Church of the Sacred Heart, Sharon. He was a member of the Sharon Steel Retiree's Association and the United Steel Workers of America. A Free and Accepted Mason, Jim was a member of Lodge # 810, Hermitage. He served with the Merchant Marines in the European Theater during W.W.II and was a member of the Hickory VFW, Hermitage Post # 6166.

His wife, the former Mary Ann Petricini, whom he married December 15, 1946, passed away December 4, 2002.

Surviving are: a daughter, Deborah A. Dunder and her husband Mark, West Middlesex, PA; a son, Joseph W. Campbell and his wife Rosemary, Howland, Ohio; four grandchildren, James and Sarah Campbell; and Mary and Amanda Dunder.

Besides his parents and wife, Jim was preceded in death by three sisters, Doris Knapp, Helen Tennant and Nancy Llewellyn; and four brothers, William, John, Leroy and Raymond Campbell.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease) Association, Development Department, 27001 Agoura Rd., Calabasas, CA 91301.

Calling hours will be 1-4 p.m. Sunday (1-10-10) in J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory Inc., 1090 E. State St., Sharon.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday (1-11-10) in the funeral home with the Rev. Henry Andrae, pastor of Church of the Sacred Heart, Sharon, officiating.
