Obituary

James R. Bridge, of Hermitage, formerly a longtime resident of Griswold St., Sharon, passed away peacefully, with his family by his side, Thursday morning, June 9, 2016, in the hospital of the Sharon Regional Health System, after an extended illness. He was 79.

Mr. Bridge was born Feb. 15, 1937, in Derry, PA, a son of Kenneth G. and Edna P. Bauman Bridge.

He attended the former St. Mary's Parochial Grade School in New Castle and was a 1956 graduate of Sharon High School.

Jim retired as a die handler in 1999 from Packard Electric Corp., Warren, Ohio, where he was employed for nearly thirty years. He previously worked at Sawhill Tubular Products.

Jim was a member of Church of the Good Shepherd, West Middlesex, and a former longtime member of St. Joseph Church, Sharon.

He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, camping and going to his camp in the Allegheny Forest.

He was also passionate about archery and shot competitively at Gold-N-Grain Archery.

Surviving are: his wife of 56 years, the former Genevieve Stefanick, whom he married June 20, 1959 in the former St. Ann Church, Farrell; three daughters, Carol Baker and her husband Joseph, Hermitage; Jean Bodien and her husband Karl, Warner Robins, GA; and Raedine Bridge, Sharpsville; two sons, Michael Bridge and his wife Melissa, Burghill, Ohio; and James E. Bridge and his wife Linda, Brookfield; 11 grandchildren; three great grandchildren; a brother, Kenneth R. Bridge and his wife Mary Ann, Hermitage; and several nieces and nephews.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Church of the Good Shepherd, P.O. Box 226, West Middlesex, PA 16159.

Calling hours will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, June 12, 2016 , in J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 1090 E. State St., Sharon.

Funeral Mass will be 11 a.m. Monday, June 13, 2016, in Church of the Good Shepherd, West Middlesex, with Rev. Jeffery Noble, pastor of Church of Notre Dame, Hermitage, as celebrant. Everyone is asked to go directly to the Church.

Interment: St. Rose Cemetery, Hermitage.
