James M. Benson of Sharon passed away at 3:53 p.m. on Monday, March 21, 2016, in Masury. He was 71.
James was born on Sept. 8, 1944, in Sharon, the son of the late James A. and Helen Krapacs Benson.
He was a 1962 graduate of Brookfield High School. Following high school, James proudly served his country in the U.S. Army, where he was a photographer and served a stint in Nancy, France.
Mr. Benson started Benson Studio of Photography in 1969 and owned and operated the studio for 41 years until his retirement in 2010. James was an award winning photographer, earning national recognition with the acceptance of a print in the Loan Collection of the Professional Photographers of America.
He enjoyed fishing, computers and playing video games with his granddaughter.
His wife of 47 years, the former Teresa Pagliaroli, whom he married in 1968, survives at home.
Also surviving are his daughter, Tammy Powell, of Brookfield; and the love of his life, his granddaughter, Emily Powell.
In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by a son, Jimi Benson; and two brothers, Ernest and Dennis Benson.
