James Anthony Bartalon of 3726 E. State St. Hermitage passed away at 12:20 a.m. Thursday (8-11-11) in Sharon Regional Health Systems. He was 93.
Mr. Bartalon was born September 11, 1917, in Farrell, a son of Gaeteno and Carmella Mancuso Bartalon.
A lifelong area resident, he graduated from Farrell High School.
A decorated veteran of World War II, he was honorably discharged from the United States Army. He received several medals and commendations including the Bronze Star and served in Patton's Army in the 90th infantry.
He was employed for 35 years at the former Sharon Transformer Division of Westinghouse Electric Corp., where he was a welder.
James was a member of the Episcopal Church of the Redeemer and the Farrell VFW Post 5286. In his spare time he found enjoyment in painting interior and exteriors of homes.
His wife, the former Margaret L. Evans Bartalon, whom he married on October 15, 1940, she passed away on April 19, 1998.
He also leaves: a daughter, Diane K. Poldy of Fairfax, VA; 2 sons, Neil T. and his wife Sandy Bartalon of Canfield, OH and James G. Bartalon and his wife Rebecca Krafft of Arlington, VA; 3 sisters, Anna Marshal, Florence Losik, and Jessie Becker; 5 grandchildren, Greg Poldy, Megan Rosia, Jason Bartalon, Callie Puskar, Laurel Bartalon; 5 great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and wife, James was preceded in death by a brother, John Bartalon; 3 sisters, Dorothy Combine, Grace and Mary Bartalon.

Service: Funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Monday in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Dennis Blauser, pastoral vicar of Episcopal Church of the Redeemer, Hermitage, officiating and Rev. Johanna Baker.
Interment: Oakwood Cemetery with full military honors being provided by the Veterans of Foreign Wars West Middlesex Post 6233, and the Wheatland American Legion Post 432.
