Jacqueline "Jackie" Shaffer, 93, of Hermitage, died peacefully Thursday, May 4, 2023, in St. John XXIII Home, Hermitage.

Mrs. Shaffer was born on June 17, 1929, in Sharon, a daughter of the late Orville and Chloie (Livermore) Hutchison and was a graduate of Sharon High School.

Prior to becoming a wife and mother, Jackie was employed in the offices of Westinghouse Electric Corp. She was a dedicated homemaker, and the bookkeeper for Shaffer Window Co.

Jackie was a member of the Hickory United Methodist Church, Hermitage, and a former member of the Order of the Eastern Star.

An avid reader, she enjoyed shopping , and in her younger years, bowling. Jackie delighted in time spent with her family and friends during trips to Florida, Virginia, Seven Springs, and Deep Creek Lake. She and Deane honeymooned at Niagara Falls and attended the New York World's Fair in 1964. She will be remembered for her great sense of humor, often in the form of one-line-zingers. Everyone looked forward to her legendary potato salad and her classic Christmas cookies.

Her husband Deane F. Shaffer, whom she married on November 26, 1953, passed away on July 21, 2000.

She is survived by a daughter, Diane French (Jerry), Bristow, VA; two sons, Terry D. Shaffer, MD (Mary), Pittsburgh, and Jerry Shaffer (Mary), Chambersburg, PA; ten grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and a daughter-in-law, Judy Shaffer.

Jackie was preceded in death by her son, Dennis A. Shaffer; two sisters, Bette Sulek, and Shirley Negrea; and a brother, William "Bill" Hutchison.
