Jack L. Hughes, 1010 Ridge Ave., Sharpsville, passed away at 8:30 p.m. Thursday (12-9-10) in the Intensive Care Unit of Sharon Regional Health System following a brief illness. He was 71.
Jack was born September 25, 1939 in Sharon, the son of Paul and Anna Ward Hughes.
A lifelong area resident, he attended Sharon Schools.
Jack was a bartender for many years throughout the area; he worked for several establishments including the former Ward's Restaurant in Hermitage, Avalon Inn, Warren, Ohio, and at the Slovenian Home, Sharon.
An outdoorsman, he loved hunting and fishing and he especially enjoyed Archery season.
Jack was known as 'Action Jackson' to his close friends and family, and was a sports fan who loved to root for his Cleveland Browns.
He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who loved spending time with his family.
His wife the former Kathryn C. Steibly whom he married on March 8, 1958, survives at home.
He is also survived by four daughters, Carla Rupp and her husband Kirk, Amy Rossi and her husband Joseph, all of South Pymatuning, Holly Hughes and her companion Anthony Kennedy, Sharon, and Mary Sharek and her husband Ken, of the McDonald area of Pittsburgh, one son, Keith Hughes and his wife Sherrie, Hermitage; twelve grandchildren, Chad, Cody, Kirk III, Kyle, Keeley, Matt, Isaiah, Colton, Evan, Jason, Anna, and Chloe, and his sister Sharon Williams and her companion Ray Baker.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson Christopher Rupp.

Services: A funeral service will be held on Tuesday (12-14-10) at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. John S. Lynch, retired priest and friend of the deceased, officiating.
Cremation: Cremation to follow funeral services and his ashes will be inurned at St. Rose Cemetery, Hermitage.
