Jack L. Hughes, Main Street, Mineral Ridge, Ohio, previously of Hartford, passed away at 5:35 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2015, following a courageous battle with Parkinson's disease. He was 73. Jackie was born June 22, 1941, in Sharon, a son of Wilbert and Violet Palmer Hughes. He attended Sharon schools. He was a self-employed HVAC installer and later worked at Bryant Heating & Cooling for 15 years. A decorated veteran, he served with both the Army and Navy during the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged with several medals, including the Purple Heart, the Silver Star and the Bronze Star. He enjoyed spending time with his family at the family camp in Cook Forest, Clarion County. He is survived by a daughter, Tina Vukovich and her husband Thomas, Sharon; four sisters, Phyllis Mott and her husband Earl, Brookfield; Marilyn Uncapher, Liberty Township, Ohio; Barbara Thompson, Hubbard; and Kathy Lamont and her husband Charlie, Farrell; one brother, Thomas Hughes, Hartford; and two grandchildren, Nicholas and Brittanie Vukovich, both Sharon. He also is survived by Shawn Dunham, Sharon; and Michelle Swab and her husband Ryan, Clarion, whom he considered his own children; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Connie Attisano. Memorial contributions may be made to Harbor Light Hospice 734 C Alpha Dr., Highland Heights, OH 44143.
