Irma L. Porterfield, 78, of Sharon, passed away Tuesday morning, December 3, 2024, in UPMC Jameson Hospital, New Castle.
Irma was born on January 20, 1946, in Sharpsville, a daughter of the late Robert Auchter and Betty Mae (Hogue) DeLong. She was a 1964 graduate of Hickory High School.
She retired from Giant Eagle with more than 17 years of service as an associate in the Deli Department and Get Go.
Irma was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Greenville.
A racing fan, she looked forward to going to the Sharon Speedway and Michaels Mercer Raceway. Irma also liked attending car shows, going to the zoo and meeting friends for lunch. In her spare time, she worked on cross-stitching and made her whole family unique Christmas stockings.
She is survived by a daughter, Nanette Ruggles and her husband John, Sharon; two sons, George Porterfield and his wife Glenda, Austintown, OH, and Edward Porterfield and his wife Heather, Accokeek, MD; five grandchildren, Jordan, Cody and Sean Ruggles, and Alexis and Edward Porterfield; one great-grandson, Nash Ruggles; two step-great-grandchildren, Wyatt and Weston Foust; two amazing best friends, Sherry Lesnett and Deb and Russ Lowery; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Irma was preceded in death by two brothers, Paul DeLong and Kenny Auchter.
