Obituary
Irene E. Thomas, Hermitage, formerly of Wengler Ave., Sharon, passed away peacefully of natural causes on Friday (4-22-11) in Sharon Regional Health System following an extended illness. She was 89.
She was born on October 15, 1921 in Sharon the daughter of Edward and Leah Mullen Morrison.
She was raised in Hubbard, Ohio and graduated from Hubbard High School. She matriculated to Kent State University where she earned her Bachelors Degree in Education.
She worked as a teacher in the Lowellville School District in Lowellville, Ohio. She later taught for several years in the Sharon City School District at the former Thornton Avenue School, and later as a substitute at the C.M. Musser School.
A lifelong area resident, she belonged to the Covenant Presbyterian Church, Sharon. She was an ardent reader who could be seen rooting for her beloved Pittsburgh Steelers on NFL Sunday's.
Irene was a loving Mother, Grandmother, and Great Grandmother who was happiest when surrounded by her family.
She leaves her son, Richard D Thomas and his wife Linda with whom she lived, a grandson, Richard Paul Thomas and his wife Zaida, a great granddaughter Jada Thomas, two sisters, Twila Morrison, Hermitage, Jean Snyder, Franklin, one brother, Harry Morrison, Indiana, Pa.
She was preceded in death by her husband Richard O. Thomas whom she married on January 1, 1946, he passed away on October 20, 1989. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, and two brothers, Earl and Joel Morrison.
Her family suggests that memorial contributions being made in her memory please be made to the Transitional Care Unit at Sharon Regional Health System 740 East State St., Sharon Pa 16146
