Irene H. "Reegie" Plyler, 81, of New Castle passed away peacefully early Friday morning, August 24, 2018, in Quality of Life Services.
Ms. Plyler was born March 26, 1937, in Knoxdale, PA, a daughter of the late Ira G. and Minerva (Blanche) Plyler. Her family settled in New Castle in the early 1940's and she later graduated from New Castle High School in 1955.
Reegie spent most of her adult life caring for others in their home when they could no longer care for themselves.
She was of the Presbyterian faith.
Reegie was a longtime member of the GBU, New Castle, where she also worked as a cook for large events and special occasions.
She enjoyed playing bingo and making crafts.
An animal lover, Reegie was particularly fond of cats and kept many as pets throughout her life.
Surviving are: a sister, Marian Olinger, New Castle; a special niece, Marjorie Plyler, Edinburg; and many additional nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Reegie was preceded in death by her longtime fiancé, Robert Aubel; and two brothers, Arnold and Brownlee Plyler.
In keeping with her wishes, all services will be held privately.
Arrangements were entrusted to J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 111 W. Falls St., New Castle .
