Irene Mazanek

Irene Mazanek, 95, formerly a longtime resident of Hermitage, passed away on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, in Rose Senior Living, Carmel, IN.

Mrs. Mazanek was born July 6, 1931, in Farrell, a daughter of the late John and Catherine Paczak and graduated from Farrell High School in 1949.

A homemaker, Irene dedicated her life to caring for her husband, family, and their home.

While living in Hermitage, Irene was an active member of St. John the Baptist Orthodox Church, Campbell, OH.

Her beloved husband of 71 years, Alfonso John Mazanek, whom she married May 1, 1954, preceded her in death on May 3, 2025.

Irene is also survived by five children, Lisa Schell (John), of Houston, TX, Mark Mazanek (Betty Anne), of Rosemont, PA, Greg Mazanek (Rose-Ann), of Zionsville, IN, Matt Mazanek (Kathy), of The Woodlands, TX, and Melanie Klim (Wayne), of West Grove, PA; 14 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, Irene was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Voytilla and Anne Paczak; and two brothers, John and Walter Paczak.

Calling hours will be from 10 to 11 a.m. on Saturday (8-8-26) in St. John Orthodox Church Cemetery Chapel, Morefield Rd., Hermitage. 

Funeral service will immediately follow at 11 a.m. on Saturday, in the cemetery chapel, with Father Andrew Bartek, officiating.

Interment: St. John Orthodox Cemetery, Hermitage.
