Obituary

A funeral service will be held on Monday for Irene B. (Mikis) Bacon, John XXIII Home, Hermitage, formerly of Sharon, who passed away peacefully of natural causes Wednesday (1-11-12) at 11:31 p.m. in UPMC Horizon Hospital, Greenville, following a brief illness. She was 85.

Mrs. Bacon was born on Christmas day (12-25-26) in Sharon, Pa., the daughter of Steven and Ella Brest Mikis.

A lifelong area resident, she attended Farrell schools.

She was a homemaker and worked for 25 years as a supervisor for the R. L. Polk Company providing city directories for Mercer County.

She was a member of Gentle Shepherd Church of the Nazarene, Hermitage, where she served on the Church Board and as a Sunday School teacher.

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who loved her family and church before all things. In her spare time she would enjoy listening to her favorite gospel songs from the Gaither Family, playing cards with her husband, and in her early years she enjoyed bowling.

Her husband Glenn Bacon who she married on June 30, 1951 survives at John XXIII Home, Hermitage.

She is also survived by four daughters, Sherry Chirikas and her husband George, West Middlesex, Nancy Caputo and her husband Thomas, Hermitage, Paulette Darlington (Gary), Boardman, and Jacqueline Steiner and Her husband Michael, Sharon, a son, Bryan and his wife Debra Bacon, Masury, Ohio; two sisters, Sara Ser, Hermitage, and Grace Bernat and her husband John, Farrell, one brother, Floyd Mikis and his wife Margaret, Hermitage; 14 grandchildren, Georgina (Randy) Allen, Regina (Shawn) Sherman, Staci (Jon) Rococi, David Darlington, Bryan Bacon Jr., Nicole (Nick) Donatelli, Bradley Bacon, Josh Bacon (Dianna) Bacon, Michael (Melodi) Steiner, Janna Bacon, Rachel Steiner, Melissa Bacon, Jennie (Joe) Wansor, Josh (Leah) Nicholson, and 16 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her grandson Nicholas Chirikas, two sisters, Margaret Jean Kolsky, and Rosemarie Franks, and her son in law, David Darlington Sr.

Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the Missionary Society of Gentle Shepherd Church of the Nazarene and sent to 3489 Shenango Valley Freeway, Hermitage, Pa 16148. Contributions will be used to help fund the Nazarene Missions International.

Jamie D. (Dinger) Bacon, 247 High St., Sharpsville, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, July 8, 2012, of complications from surgery. She was 36.

Jamie was born February 5, 1976 in Sharon a daughter of Edward A. and Janet D. Darby Dinger.

A 1994 graduate of Sharpsville High School, Jamie was a varsity cheerleader for the basketball and football teams, a member of the National Honor Society and a member of the homecoming court her senior year. She attended Clarion State University and was employed in the shipping department at UPS in New Wilmington for eleven years.

Jamie had a deep faith in God and attended the Neshannock Alliance Church in West Middlesex. She was a caring and sensitive girl who worked hard to provide for her family.

A loving and devoted mother, she is survived by her son, Austin Bacon of Sharpsville, who was the light of her life. She also leaves her mother, Jan Campbell, Sharpsville; her father, Ed Dinger and his fiancée Cindy Maleychik, West Middlesex; a brother, Edward D. Dinger and his wife Audrey and their children, Macie and Jaxon, Sharpsville; maternal grandparents, Len and Betty Darby, Hermitage; and many aunts, uncles and cousins to whom she was close.

Jamie was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Darrell and Irene Dinger.

Memorial contributions may be made to Jan Campbell for a trust fund which will be established for Jamie's son.

Calling hours will be from 9 a.m. to time of service Monday, July 16, 2012, in J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 1090 E. State St., Sharon.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday, July 16, 2012, in the funeral home with the Rev. Jeffrey T. Smith, pastor of Neshannock Alliance Church, West Middlesex, officiating.

Interment: Morefield Cemetery, Hermitage.
