Inez C. Nichols, Nugent Convalescent Home, and formerly of Monticello Ave., both Hermitage, passed away peacefully at 8:40 p.m. on Wednesday (4-8-09) in the home of natural causes. She was 88.
She was born on August 21, 1920 in Pittsburgh, Pa. the daughter of James D. and Emma Lauer Carlos.
A homemaker, she belonged to Our Lady of Fatima Church, Farrell.
She enjoyed floral arranging and would often help out at Palo's Floral Shop, Sharpsville. She also enjoyed writing short stories and poems and was proud to have had her poem 'I Love the Ocean' published in 1983.
She married Joseph Nichols on May 11, 1940, he passed away on February 1, 1978.
Surviving are her daughter, Mary Rita Kladitis, Hermitage, her son, Joseph J. 'Butch' Nichols and his wife Marsha, Sharon; three grandsons, Mark, Vincent, and David Nichols; seven great grandchildren, Jared, Chelsea, Joshua, Alyssa, Noah, Aaron, and Kayla Nichols; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her son Michael A. Nichols, a son in law, Nick Kladitis, a sister Emma Jane Cubbison, a brother James D. Carlos, Jr., and an infant brother and sister.

Services: Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Tuesday (4-14-09) in Our Lady of Fatima Church, 601 Roemer Blvd., Farrell, with Rev. John S. Lynch, Retired priest as celebrant.
Interment: St. Mary's Cemetery, Hermitage.
