Hugh O. Swartz, 85, of New Wilmington passed away Saturday afternoon, September 24, 2022, in Sharon Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Swartz was born April 6, 1937 in New Wilmington, son of the late Harold Swartz and Thelma (Hunter) Swartz.  He attended West Middlesex school.  Hugh, a farmer, was employed by Leali Brothers Meats.

Hugh, an avid hunter and fisherman, enjoyed fishing at Lake Erie and hunting in Tionesta. Hugh's greatest joy was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

He is survived by a daughter, Missy Sherman (fiance Steve) Arnold, PA; a son, John (Amy) Swartz, Espyville, PA; seven grandchildren, Aaron (Bre Ruhl) Brooks, Shane (Taylor) Brooks, both of New Wilmington, Elizabeth Swartz, Sharon and Kayla-Lynn Sherman, Arnold, PA, Kimberly Durden,  Amber Flocken both of Lebanon, PA. and Skyar Flocken, Meadville, PA; three great-grandchildren, Mason Brooks, Jaelyn Roberts, Justin Durden Jr.

Besides his parents, Hugh was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Ann Swartz; a son, Dennis Thompson; two brothers, Wayne Swartz, and Otis Swartz; and a sister, Karen Como.
