Howard J. Fleeger, 81, of Union Twp. passed away peacefully Friday afternoon, May 17, 2019, in Quality of Life Services.

Mr. Fleeger was born June 5, 1937, in Butler, PA, a son of the late Lewis and Cecelia (Kirk) Fleeger.

At the age of 17, Howard began working at Youngstown (Ohio) Sheet and Tube, where he remained until the plants closing in 1977. He then worked in several capacities for Preston Motor's, New Castle, retiring in 2016.

An avid outdoorsman, Howard loved hunting and fishing.

His beloved wife of more than 62 years, the former Betty M. Pennington, whom he married December 22, 1956, survives at home.

Also surviving are a daughter, Darlene (Bill) Fleeger Maravelli, of New Castle; a son, Howard J. (Beth) Fleeger, Jr., of Butler, PA; and a granddaughter, Ashley Fleeger.

In addition to his parents, Howard was preceded in death by four sisters, Bertha Link, Rita Gelnett, Betty Moore and Willavene Minto; and four brothers, James, Louis, Albert and Stephen Fleeger.

Memorial donations may be directed towards Three Rivers Hospice of New Castle.

Calling hours will be from 4 p.m. until the time of services Tuesday, (5-21-19) in J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 111 W. Falls St., New Castle.

Funeral service will be at 6 p.m., in the funeral home, with Rev. Glenn Crytzer, chaplain of Three Rivers Hospice, officiating.

Entombment will be in Resurrection Mausoleum, St. Mary Cemetery
