Obituary
Hilda L. Turjan, Hermitage, passed away at 6:30 a.m. Sunday, July 15, 2012, in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System after an extended illness. She was 73.
Mrs. Turjan was born Aug. 10, 1938, at home in Duffy, Ohio, a daughter of Clemit and Lelia Bennett Crawford.
She was a 1956 alumna of River High School in Clarington, Ohio, where she was a cheerleader and homecoming queen.
She moved to the area following her graduation and attended the former Wil-Mar Beauty Academy in Sharon. She was of the Methodist faith.
Hilda was an exceptional homemaker and loved to cook and bake. She also enjoyed crafts and was a regular participant at line dancing classes at the YMCA in Hermitage. In 1996, she and her husband traveled across the country in their recreational vehicle. Hilda was much loved and will be remembered by many for her contagious laugh and smile; she will be dearly missed by her family, as well as many friends at the YMCA.
Surviving are: her husband of 55 years, Paul Turjan Jr., whom she married Nov. 18, 1956; two sons, Timothy E. Turjan and hhis wife Debbie, Hartford, Ohio; and Donald P. Turjan and his wife Peggy, Hermitage; a daughter, Patricia Tomko and her husband Dan, Mentor, Ohio; and four grandchildren, Matthew Turjan, Cole Tomko, Bryce Tomko and Zachary Fejes. She also leaves two sisters, Ilene Holder and her husband Marvin, Elgin, Ill.; and Trena Ross and her husband Rod, Baltimore, Ohio; four brothers, Kenneth Crawford and his wife Rena, Clarington, Ohio; Keith Crawford, Sardis, Ohio; Delmas Crawford, Clarington; and Bruce Crawford and his wife Sally, Hampshire, Ill.; and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Hilda was preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Nancy Crawford.
The family would like to thank Sharon Regional Hospice Home Care for their help and guidance and Hilda's many friends who sent cards, that always brightened her day.
