Henry J. "Hank" Stanek, formerly of Longview Road, Hermitage, passed away at 8:20 a.m. Monday, Jan. 19, 2015, under hospice care in The Inn at Coalridge, Wadsworth, Ohio, where he was a resident for the past two years. He was 92. Mr. Stanek was born Jan. 29, 1922, in Farrell, a son of Ignacy and Mary Korab Stanek. He was a 1939 graduate of Farrell High School and served with the Coast Guard during World War II. Hank retired in 1983 from the former Sharon Transformer Division of Westinghouse Electric Corp., where he was employed for more than 40 years. He was a member of Church of the Good Shepherd, West Middlesex. Hank also was a member of Westinghouse Retiree's Association, AARP, and Reynolds VFW. He enjoyed golfing, gardening and playing cards, particularly with his nephew, Jeff Snyder and his wife Audrey, and his niece, Judy Jennings and her husband Drew. His wife, the former Mary E. Redfoot, whom he married Jan. 27, 1945, passed away July 31, 2002. Surviving are two sons, Martin J. Stanek and his wife Amy, Phoenix; and Leonard H. Stanek and his wife Carolann, Sharon Center, Ohio; seven grandchildren, Melia Shook and her husband Ben, and Daniel, Brookelyn, Gregory, Matthew, Diana and Anthony; a brother, Alex Stanek, Canton, Ohio (formerly of Hermitage); a sisterin- law, Sandy Stanek, Farrell; a close friend, Margaret O'Donnell, Hermitage; and several nieces and nephews. Besides his wife, Hank was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Theodore, Ben and Edward Stanek; and four sisters, Wanda Robinson, Helen Borawski, Laura Smaltz and Cecelia Janusko.
