Henry C. Cross of Ellwood City, PA, passed away the evening of Wednesday, November 4, 2015, in Jameson Hospital, New Castle, after an extended illness. He was 89. Mr. Cross was born October 20, 1926, in New Castle, a son of John and Mary (White) Cross. He was a lifelong area resident and attended school in Princeton. Henry owned and operated the former HC Furniture Store and Country Discount Furniture Barn for more than 30 years. Earlier in his life he worked at the Crane Company in New Castle. Henry was an active member of Keys To The Kingdom Church, Shenango Township; and was a former longtime active member of Assembly of God Tabernacle in Union Township where he served as an usher and board member. Henry enjoyed fishing, hunting, taxidermy and attending yard and garage sales and auctions with his daughter. He was a decorated veteran of the U.S. Army and served in Northern Luzon, Philippines, during WWII. His wife, the former Sara Jane Alexander, whom he married March 2, 1944, passed away December 30, 1996. He is survived by: a daughter, Robin L. Wilson and her husband William W. Wilson, Ellwood City, PA; a sister, Dorothy Gamble, Texas; five grandchildren, Kevin and Aaron Wilson; Rhonda Samuels, Ronald Cross, Jr. and Doreen Osborn; eight great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Besides his wife, Henry was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Charles "Butch" Cross and Ronald Cross; a grandson, Robert Cross; four brothers, Thomas, Albert, Harold and Donald Cross; and a sister Marietta Diana. Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, November 9, 2015, in Keys To The Kingdom Church, New Castle. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, November 10, 2015, in the church with Rev. Karl Moore, pastor, officiating. Entombment: Parkside Mausoleum, New Castle.
