Obituary

Henry "Hank" A. Caruso of Hubbard, Ohio, formerly of Farrell, passed away unexpectedly Thursday evening, November 24, 2016, in Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh. He was 80.

Mr. Caruso was born November 13, 1936, in Sharon, a son of Henry M. and Josephine (Salandria) Caruso.

He attended the former St. Adalbert Parochial Grade School, Farrell, and was a 1954 graduate of Farrell High School.

Hank served in the U.S. Army and was an active Army Reserve in Farrell for five and a half years. He then earned his associate degree in Business Administration from Youngstown State University.

Hank worked for the former A&P Tea Company in Farrell and Sharon for 17 years and later Patton's Sparkle Market in Hubbard, Ohio for 28 years. He retired from Patton's as the assistant manager in the late 1990's.

Hank was an active member of St. Patrick Church, Hubbard, where he served as an usher.

Surviving are: his mother, Josephine Caruso, Farrell; his wife of 52 years, the former Joyce E. White, whom he married August 22, 1964 in St. Adalbert Church, Farrell; two daughters, Lauren Avram and her husband John, Westminster, CO; and Elisa Mossgrove and her husband Scott, Indiana, PA; his beloved grandchildren, Dane and Rachael Mossgrove, Indiana, PA; and Ryan and Caroline Avram, Westminster, CO; and a sister-in-law, Marilyn R. White, Hermitage.

Hank was preceded in death by his father.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Holy Cross Cemetery Fund c/o St. Adalbert Church, 1035 Fruit Ave., Farrell, PA 16121. At Hank's request there are no calling hours.


Funeral Mass will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, November 29, 2016, in St. Adalbert Church, Farrell, with Rev. Joseph Campbell, pastor, as celebrant.

Interment: Holy Cross Cemetery, Hermitage, with military honors rendered by the West Middlesex VFW, Wheatland American Legion and Farrell VFW Honor Guard.
