Helen E. Spencer, formerly of Fornelli Manor, Linden St., Sharon, passed away at 10:20 p.m. Wednesday, April 4, 2012, after a brief illness, in John XXIII Home, Hermitage, where she was a resident for the past three years. She was 92.
Mrs. Spencer was born September 3, 1919 in Sharon a daughter of John and Anna Zavada Rindy.
She was a lifelong area resident and a 1936 graduate of Sharon High School.
Helen was employed for more than twenty years at the former Sharon Store in downtown Sharon and later, Kaufmann's in the Shenango Valley Mall, Hermitage, retiring in 1979.
She was a lifetime member of Church of the Sacred Heart, Sharon. Helen belonged to the Kaufmann's Retiree's Association and enjoyed crossword puzzles.
Her husband, Kenneth Joseph Spencer, whom she married May 28, 1940, passed away January 9, 2002.
Surviving are: a daughter, Jeanne A Costanza and her husband Anthony, Sharon; a son, Fred K. Spencer and his wife Patricia H., New Castle; six grandchildren, Fred Spencer, Jr., James Spencer, Stephanie Spencer, Matt Lapka, Michael Lapka and TJ Costanza; and seven great grandchildren. She also leaves two sisters, Marianne Ferrara, Hermitage; and Eleanor Purdy, Jacksonville, Florida; two brothers, Raymond Rindy and his wife Helen, Sharon; and Eugene Rindy and his wife Patricia; Hubbard Twp.; a brother-in-law, William Chioffi, Hermitage; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents and husband, Helen was preceded in death by a sister, Cecelia Chioffi.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Church of the Sacred Heart, 40 S. Irvine Ave., Sharon, PA 16146.

Mass of Christian burial will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 11, 2012, in Church of the Sacred Heart, Sharon, with Rev. Henry Andrae, pastor, as celebrant.
Interment: St. Mary's Cemetery, Hermitage.
