Helen Sniezek, 89, formerly of Sunny Ave. in Union Twp.; passed away peacefully Sunday evening, September 25, 2016, in Golden Hill Nursing Home.

Mrs. Sniezek was born November 19, 1926, in New Castle, a daughter of Gregory M. and Catherine Jendrysik Orlowski.  She attended St. Phillip and James School in New Castle. Although a homemaker for most of her life, she previously worked at the former Shenango China.

Helen is a member of St. Mary's Church, Mary Mother of Hope Parish, and formerly a member of Madonna Church where she was a member of the Ladies Sodality Group.

She enjoyed gardening, playing bingo and especially, crocheting and crafts. She made many beautiful crocheted gifts for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Helen loved family gatherings and listening to Polka music.

Her husband, Frank J. Sniezek, whom she married May 3, 1947, passed away June 4, 1990.

Surviving are: three daughters, Jane A. Luther and her husband, Joseph, Elizabethtown, NC; Barbara J. Pack and her husband, Charles, Huffman, TX; and Donna J. Fredenburg and her husband, Michael, Bartlesville, OK; a son, Philip C. Sniezek and his wife, Diane, New Castle; a sister, Verna Cwynar, Warren, OH; eight grandchildren, Jacquelyn Luther Nance, Joseph Luther, Joan Luther Bowen, Aimee Pack Wells, Emily Sniezek and Justin, Julie and Nathan Fredenburg, and four great grandchildren, Hannah Luther, Ellie Bowen, Evan Bowen and Blake Wells. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Helen was preceded in death by a son, Thomas A. Sniezek; a sister, Sophie Gierlach; and a brother Frank Orlowski.
