Obituary
Helen Marie Palumbo formerly of Hubbard, OH passed away on Monday, March 7, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. in O'Brien Memorial Home. She was 91.
Mrs. Palumbo was born in Trauger, PA (Westmoreland County) on March 18, 1919, a daughter of Michael and Suzanna Vagasky Missik.
She attended Farrell High School.
Helen was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Bernadette's Catholic Church, Masury, and also the Brookfield Senior's Club. She enjoyed gardening, and loved to can all of her fruits and vegetables that she grew. Helen was an excellent cook. Family was very important to her, she was a loving mother and grandmother.
Her husband, John B. Palumbo, Sr., whom she married January 4, 1939, passed away July 3, 1986.
She is survived by a daughter, Carole Williams-Dimoff and her husband John of Brookfield and a daughter-in-law, Esther Palumbo, Girard, OH; 10 grandchildren, Dawn Williams-Valley and her husband Rick, Deana and her husband Scott Wells, John and his wife Lori Palumbo III, Marie Palumbo, Michael Palumbo, Robert Palumbo Jr. Brian Palumbo, Monica Czopar, Gwendolyn Sekola, Julie Barr; 22 great grandchildren, and 1 great great granddaughter.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by two sons, John 'Jack' Palumbo, Jr and Robert Palumbo, Sr.; five sisters, Susan Beharry, Mary Gotch, Julia Shebeck-Brooker, Barbara Hornyak, and Elizabeth Jurina; four brothers, John, Michael, Steve, and Paul Missik; a great grandson, Kenneth Barr and a son-in-law, John 'Jack' Williams.
The family would like to thank the Staff at O'Brien Memorial Home and Dr. David D'Amore for their exceptional care of Helen, also to family and friends who dedicated their time and love.
Calling hours will be 10 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. prior to the service on Thursday, March 10, 2011 at St. Bernadette's Catholic Church.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held in St. Bernadette's Catholic Church on Thursday, March 10, 2011 at 12:00 p.m. Arrangements entrusted to the J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. 1090 E. State St. Sharon, PA 16146.
Memorial contributions can be made to St. Bernadette's Catholic Church 7800 Locust St. Masury, OH 44438 or St. Jude 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
Internment will be in Hubbard Union Cemetery.
