Obituary

Helen Heldorfer Orban of Hermitage passed away Sunday morning (11-15-15) in her home. She was 82. Mrs. Orban was born February 23, 1933, in Sharon, a daughter of Frank and Mary Yesko Heldorfer. Descended from Okarche, Oklahoma pioneers, her grandparents John J. and Anne Weiss Heldorfer were early settlers and large landowners in Hickory Township (now Hermitage) at the turn of the century. Helen attended the former St. Joseph Parochial Grade School. Sharon, and was a graduate of Sharon High School. She received a Bachelor's of Science degree in Elementary Education and an English degree majoring in British and American poetry and literature from Youngstown State University. She also earned a Master's degree in Education from Westminster College, New Wilmington. Helen was employed for 32 years as a teacher in the Sharon City School District. She was a member of the Sharon Teachers Association, Pennsylvania State and National Education Association's and the Pennsylvania State Retired Teachers Association. Helen was a devout Catholic and a lifelong member of St. Joseph Church, Sharon, and most recently attended Church of the Good Shepherd, West Middlesex. She was a member of the College Club of Sharon for more than 50 years. Helen was a voracious reader and a lifelong and ardent fan of Notre Dame Football. She deeply loved her daughter, Heidi, and her grandson, Gregory. Surviving are: her beloved daughter, Heidi Polcha Geniviva; a loving grandson, Gregory Polcha, Jr.; and a son-in-law, Brian Geniviva, all Hermitage. Helen was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, George J. Orban, a former administrator in the Sharon Public Schools; and a son-in-law, Gregory M. Polcha, Sr. There are no calling hours. Private Mass of Christian burial will be held in St. Rose Cemetery chapel, Hermitage, with Monsignor Edward J. Zeitler, senior pastor of the Church of Notre Dame, Hermitage, as celebrant. Interment: St. Rose Cemetery, Hermitage.
