Obituary

Helen O. 'Snooky' Turosky, 360 Elm Ave., Sharon, passed away at 6:45 p.m. Sunday, April 15, 2012, surrounded by her family in Nugent Convalescent Home, Hermitage, after an extended illness. She was 78.

Mrs. Turosky was born December 16, 1934 in Sharon a daughter of the late Ira and Helen Logan Ogden.

A lifelong area resident, she attended the former St. Joseph Parochial Grade School; was a 1953 graduate of Sharon High School; and attended Youngstown State University.

Snooky retired in 2003 from GM's Lordstown plant where she was employed for 28 years. She also worked as a secretary at the former Sharon Transformer Division of Westinghouse Electric Corporation for 13 years. She was a member of St. Joseph Church, Sharon. Snooky was a member of the American Legion, Post 432, Wheatland; and the VFW, Post 5286, and the Slovak Home, both Farrell. Snook enjoyed spending time in her back yard swimming pool listening to Patsy Cline with her wonderful husband, two sons and her sisters. She loved many things in life including bowling and vacations at Conneaut, Ohio and Geneva-on-the-Lake, Ohio; however her true passion was her family, particularly her grandsons.

Surviving are: her husband of 45 years, Edward R. 'Rabbit' Turosky, Sr.; two sons, Edward R. Turosky, Jr. and his wife Amy, Farrell; and Brian P. Turosky and his wife Jennifer, Boston, Mass.; three grandchildren whom she adored, Tanner, Ty and Leo Turosky; three loving sisters, Kay Pickering, Cincinnati, Ohio; Tess McCallen, Sharon; and Mary Ann Cagno, Hermitage; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, Snook was preceded in death by two sisters, Patty Herster and Donna Yankovich; and a brother, Ira Ogden, who died as an infant.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to St. Joseph Church, 79 Case Ave., Sharon, PA 16146.

Calling hours will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 18, 2012, in J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 1090 E. State St., Sharon.

Funeral service will precede calling hours and be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home with the Rev. Glenn R. Whitman, pastor of St. Joseph Church, Sharon, officiating.
