Helen M. Kohut, 99, of Farrell, passed away Friday evening, September 20, 2024, in Clepper Manor, Sharon.
Ms. Kohut was born on April 26, 1925, in Farrell, a daughter of the late Andrew and Margaret (Waska) Kohut. She was a lifelong Farrell and Sharon resident, and attended Farrell High School.
Helen retired in 1985 from the housekeeping department of the former Shenango Valley Osteopathic Hospital.
Helen was a member of the former St. Ann's Church until its consolidation with Our Lady of Fatima, both in Farrell.
She enjoyed crocheting as long as she was able. Helen also had a great passion for animals, especially the "Puppy Love of Her Life," Tobey, her nephew's golden retriever. His visits were the highlight of her day.
She is survived by a nephew, Charles Kohut and his wife Marti, Hermitage; a niece, Kimberly Klein and her husband Michael, Rowlett, TX and several great nieces and nephews. She is also survived by several cousins including Lorraine Greer and her husband Don who were always willing to help when needed.
In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by her brother, Charles A. Kohut and his wife Veronica.
The family suggests memorial contributions be directed to Shenango Valley Animal Shelter, 2599 Broadway Rd., Hermitage, PA 16148 or an animal charity of their choosing.
