Obituary

Helen Gallicchio of Sharon passed away at 3:38 a.m. Sunday, August 13, 2017, in Nugent's Convalescent Home, Hermitage. She was 91.

Mrs. Gallicchio was born April 26, 1926, in Farrell, a daughter of Jan and Agnes Klocek Telega. She attended St. Adalbert's Parochial Grade School and was a 1945 graduate of Farrell High School.

Prior to becoming a homemaker, Helen was employed as a clerk at the former Protected Home Mutual Life Insurance Company, Sharon; and the former Sharon Transformer Division of Westinghouse Electric Corp.

Helen was a lifelong member of St. Adalbert's Church, Farrell, and served on the choir, rosary society and helped run the pierogi sale. She was also a member of the Polish National Alliance and bowled in the PNA league at Thorton Hall, Sharon.

Her husband, Vincent J. "Jim" Gallicchio, whom she married on September 8, 1956, in St. Adalbert's Church, passed away October 24, 2014.

Helen is survived by two sons, James V. "Gitch" Gallicchio and his wife LaRose; and John L. Gallicchio, both of Sharon; and two grandchildren, Trey Gallicchio and Samantha Lynn Stull.

In addition to her husband, Helen was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter-in-law, Alicia Gallicchio; four sisters, Bernice Smigel, Josephine Krauss, Frances Walsh, and Stella Prezioso; and three brothers, Stanley, Theodore and Charles Telega.

Calling hours will be 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday ( 08/16/2017 ) in J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 1090 E. State St., Sharon.

Mass of Christian burial will be 11:30 a.m. Wednesday , in St. Adalbert's Church, 1035 Fruit Ave., Farrell, with Rev. Matthew Ruyechan, pastor, as celebrant.

Burial: Holy Cross Cemetery, Hermitage.
