Obituary
A funeral service will held Wednesday for Hazel C. Crompton, formerly of Sharon and Hermitage. She passed away at 3:55 a.m. Saturday (10-1-11) in Goffstown, N.H. She was 98.
Mrs. Crompton was born Jan. 24, 1913, in Sharon, a daughter of James and Carolyn Martin Bracken.
She was a graduate of Farrell High School and received her bachelor of science degree in education from Edinboro (Pa.) State University. Mrs. Crompton was a first grade teacher at Musser Elementary School in Sharon School District for 25 years. She previously taught in Farrell School District for 10 years. Before moving to New Hampshire, she was a longtime member of Covenant Presbyterian Church, Sharon. She also belonged to Order of the Eastern Star, Order of Amaranth and its past Officers Club, YWCA, Pennsylvania State Education Association, National Education Association and several card clubs.
Her husband, Arthur W. Crompton, whom she married Nov. 12, 1948, passed away June 8, 2000.
Surviving are: a daughter, Linda C. Gibbs and her husband Joseph J., Hermitage; a son, Thomas A. Crompton and his wife Nancy, Bedford, N.H.; two grandchildren, Matthew Crompton and his wife Jessica, Quantico, Va.; and Andrea Crompton, Boston, Mass.; a great-granddaughter, Julia Crompton, Quantico; and a brother, Thomas Bracken, Clearwater, Fla.
Besides her husband, Hazel was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Anna Mae Platten of Rocky River, Ohio; and a brother, James M. Bracken of West Chester, Pa.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Sharon Regional Hospice and Palliative Care, 2320 Highland Road, Hermitage, PA 16148.
