Harry Edward Beckert, 74, of Sharon passed away on Friday, September 7, 2018, in his home.

Mr. Beckert was born November 5, 1943, in Pittsburgh, a son of William Earl and Ruth Marie (Atkinson) Beckert. He was a 1961 graduate of South Hills High School, Pittsburgh, and enlisted in the US Army where he was stationed in Germany. Following his honorable discharge, Harry worked in carpet installation.  He was later employed by Wheatland Tube, and the City of Sharon, before ultimately retiring from Erme's Distributing Co., Hermitage.

Harry was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Hermitage. He was a former member of the Son's of Italy, Sharon, where he participated in the bocce leagues. Harry also served as the president of the Sharon National Little League for several years.

He was an avid Pittsburgh sports fan. Harry's greatest joy came from attending his grandchildren's activities and hearing of their many accomplishments.

He married his high school sweetheart and, the former Donna C. Martin, on October 9, 1965. She passed away March 12, 2014.

He is survived by two sons, Kent M. Beckert and his wife Michelle, Corrales, N.M.; and William Bradley Beckert and his wife Christey, Sharon; five grandchildren, Anna, Aerin, Leah, Ashlin and William Beckert; a sister, Sis Dorroh, Alabama; a brother, William Beckert and his wife Aurelia, South Carolina; and a brother-in-law, David Martin and his wife Rita, Wexford.

In addition to his wife, Harry was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Daniel E. Beckert; two sisters, Ruth Kauffeld and Janet Hayes; and a brother, George Alfred Beckert.

Calling hours will be 4 to 7 p.m. Monday (09/10/2018) in J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 1090 East State St., Sharon.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday (09/11/2018) in the funeral home with Rev. Gary Nelson, pastor of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Hermitage, officiating.

Interment: Holy Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Hermitage.
