Harold R. Stewart, Shepherd of the Valley 4100 N. River Rd Warren, Ohio, formerly of Sharon, passed away peacefully at 3:10 a.m. Friday (4-13-12) in Trumbull Memorial Hospital, Warren, Ohio following a brief illness. He was 98.
He was born in May 23, 1913, Akron, Ohio the son of Howard and Elsie Stanton Stewart.
In his early years he was proud to have worked on the ground crew for the Good Year Blimp in Akron, OH.
Following graduation from high school, he gained employment at the former Sharon Store in downtown Sharon, Pa. He later worked for the former General American Transportation Corporation, Masury, OH, where he worked in the engineering department.
He belonged to Sacred Heart Church, Sharon.
Mr. Stewart volunteered as an advisor for Junior Achievement in Mercer County for several years.
He enjoyed bowling with his wife in the former GATX bowling league in years past and was a member of the GATX retiree's organization.
His wife the former Helen N. Friedrich whom he married on June 29, 1939 in Sacred Heart Church, passed away on March 16, 2003, they where happily married for 64 years.
He leaves his daughter Susanne M. Stewart, Vienna, Ohio, two sons, Denis R. Stewart and his wife Linda, Fowler, Ohio, and Timothy B. Stewart, also Vienna. He is survived by his 5 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by a son Terence M. Stewart, and three brothers, Leroy, Elmer, and Clarence Stewart.

Services: Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 1:30 p.m. Monday (4-16-12) in Sacred Heart Church, 40 South Irvine Ave., Sharon, with Rev. Henry C. Andrae, pastor as the celebrant. A brief prayer service will be held at 1:00 Monday in the funeral home prior to leaving for the church.
Interment: St. Mary's Cemetery, Hermitage.
