Guy M. Christie of 411 Gardner Stop Rd, New Castle, he passed away at 11:15 p.m., Tuesday, August 2, 2011 in Fosnight of Valencia Personal Care Home, Gibsonia. He was 87.
Mr. Christie was born November 7, 1923 in Butler, PA the son of Lale and Bernice Sutton Christie.
He was a graduate of Shenango High School in 1941.
Mr. Christie spent 3 ½ years in World War II, part of his time in the Philippines and New Guinea.
Guy retired from Penn Power in 1986 after 40 years of service. He was the youngest Supervisor ever to be employed at the company.
He was a member of the Third Presbyterian Church and a life member of the New Castle Elks, American Legion, and the Eintracht Sing Society Member. He enjoyed golf, watching the Steelers, and spending time with his family.
His wife, Jean Smith Christie, whom he married in 1945, passed away on December 13, 1990.
Guy is survived by a daughter, Lynn and her husband David Bridge Butler, PA; 3 grandchildren, Tyler, Natalie, and Peter.
He was preceded in death by his parents and wife.
Calling hours will be on Friday, August 5, 2011 from 6:30 to 9:00 p.m. in the J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. 111 W. Falls St. There will also be calling hours one hour prior to the service on Saturday, August 6, 2011.
A funeral service will take place on Friday August 6, 2011 at 12:00 p.m. in the funeral home with Pastor Michael Spicuzza of the Third Presbyterian Church.
Entombment will be in Castle View Cemetery.
