Obituary

Gordon S. 'Gordie' Suttles, 55 W. Connelly Blvd., Sharon, PA; formerly of Masury, Ohio, passed away at 9:15 a.m. Sunday (7-26-09) in his residence. He was 78.
Mr. Suttles was born December 31, 1930 in Masury a son of the late Harold and Anna Eckley Suttles.
He was a graduate of Brookfield High School and served with the US Air Force during the Korean War.
Gordie was a sales representative for L.M. Berry Co., Dayton, Ohio for 23 years and covered the state of Pennsylvania.
Following his retirement, he moved to Florida for a short period of time and later to Hilton Head Island, SC where he was a starter and ranger at the famous Harbour Town Links Golf Course.
He was a member of the Masury United Methodist Church. A Free and Accepted Mason he belonged to the Jerusalem Lodge 19; and Order of the Eastern Star, both Hartford, Ohio. Gordie was also a member of the Hickory VFW Post 6166, Hermitage, PA. When his sons were children, he served as a little league baseball coach in Brookfield and as a Boy Scout Troop Leader. Gordie was a sports enthusiast and a fan of most Ohio teams. He enjoyed Major League Baseball and would often attend spring training in Florida. He was an avid golfer throughout his life and once recorded a hole-in-one. Fishing was also a favorite pastime.
His first wife, the former Norma Pearson, to whom he was married for 36 years, passed away in 2002. He later married the former Faye Black, who survives in Sharon, PA.
Surviving are: two daughters, Susan K. Suttles, Dunedin, Florida; and Lori A. Logan and her husband Patrick, Masury; two sons, Daniel S. Suttles and his wife Carolyn, Brookfield; and John A. Suttles and his wife Tracy, Boston, Mass.; 13 grandchildren, Rachael, Christopher, Jessica, Michael, Hannah, Leigh Ann, Carly, Maggie, Erin, Garrett, Jack, Pearson and Devin; and a sister, JoAnn Thompson, Brookfield, Ohio.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Willard Suttles and Harold Suttles, Jr.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Sharon Regional Health System's Hospice Home Care, 740 E. State St., Sharon, PA 16146.
Calling hours will be from 4-7 p.m. today (7-28-09) and one hour before the service on Wednesday (7-29-09) in J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 1090 E. State St., Sharon.
