Obituary

Gloria Stoner, South Buhl Farm Drive, Hermitage, passed away unexpectedly at 12:33 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2015, in her residence. She was 93. Mrs. Stoner was born Oct. 25, 1921, in Farrell, a daughter of Henry and Kate Pandolfi DonDero. She was a 1939 graduate of Farrell High School and earned her bachelor of science degree in health and physical education in 1943 from what is now Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania. Gloria began her teaching career in Farrell Area School District and went on to teach in Sharpsville Area School District for more than 25 years. She retired in 1969. She was a member of the National, and Pennsylvania State education associations and Mercer County Teachers Association. She was a former member of Sharon Junior Women's Club. Gloria married her husband, Keith W. Stoner, former superintendent of Hermitage School District, on June 4, 1943. He passed away Sept. 7, 2002. She is survived by: a son, Lin Stoner, and his wife, Diane Lane, Decatur, Ill. She was preceded in death by: two brothers, Henry DonDero Jr. and Fred DonDero; and three sisters, Mildred Grande, Helen McDaniel and Antoinette "Tony" Williams. The family suggests memorial contributions be made in her memory to Buhl Farm Trust, 715 Hazen Road, Hermitage, PA 16148. Calling hours: 1 p.m. to time of service Saturday (1-31-5) in J. BRADLEY McGONIGLE FUNERAL HOME and CREMATORY Inc., 1090 E. State St., Sharon. Service: Funeral at 2 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home, with the Rev. Thomas J. Whitman, pastor of St. Joseph's Church, Sharon, officiating. Interment: Hillcrest Memorial Park, Hermitage.
