Gina Marie Zampogna, of Hubbard, Ohio, passed away Tuesday evening, October 16, 2018, following a courageous five year battle with cancer. She was 41.
Gina was born August 17, 1977, in Akron, Ohio, a daughter of Robert and Gainor (Gussman) Zampogna. She was raised in Hermitage and was a 1996 graduate of Hickory High School. Gina was a dental assistant for Primary Health Network for a number of years. She was a member of the Church of Notre Dame, Hermitage.
Gina was a strong advocate for animals and enjoyed the outdoors, camping, traveling and attending concerts. She loved spending time with her family, particularly her nieces and nephews whom she adored.
Surviving is her father, Robert Zampogna, of Hubbard, Ohio; a sister, Angela Joan Johnson and her husband Eric, of Coral Springs, Florida; a brother, Nathan Paul Zampogna and his wife Marjorie, of Hermitage; nieces and nephews, Skylar Johnson, Brendan Zampogna, Laynee Johnson and Liam Zampogna; and several loving aunts, uncles and cousins.
Gina was preceded in death by her mother, Gainor Zampogna; and her grandparents, J.R. and Betty Gussman; and Dominick and Josephine Zampogna.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to UPMC Magee-Women's Hospital, 300 Halket St., Pittsburgh, Pa. 15213.
Calling hours will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, October 19, 2018, in J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 1090 E. State St., Sharon.
Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Saturday, October 20, 2018, in the Church of Notre Dame, Hermitage, with the Very Rev. Richard J. Allen E.V., pastor, as celebrant.
Interment: St. Rose Cemetery, Hermitage.
