A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Tuesday for Mrs. Geraldine 'Geri' K. Lucas, S. 3rd St. , Sharpsville, formerly of Wallis Ave., Sharon who passed away peacefully at 5:55 a.m. on Friday (1-7-11) in the hospital of Sharon Regional health System with her family at her side. She was 74.
Mrs. Lucas was born on April 12, 1936 in Farrell, the daughter of Frank and Blanche Smith Kowalski. A lifelong area resident, she graduated from Farrell High School.
She had worked for several Sharon businesses over the years including Subway, Goldstein's Furniture, the former Coca Cola bottling Company. In her early years she has worked for the former Myer Frank
Furniture Store, Farrell, and the former Sharon Transformer Division of the Westinghouse Electric Corporation.
She was a lifelong member of St. Adalberts Church in Farrell where she had taught Confraternity of Catholic Doctrine Classes.
Mrs. Lucas enjoyed volunteering for the Shenango Valley Senior Center in Hermitage, and in her spare time she enjoyed working word search puzzles and watching Jeopardy.
A loving mother and grandmother, her greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Her husband, Leonard J. Lucas whom she married on April 19, 1958, passed away peacefully on March 3, 2000.
She is survived by her two daughters, Linda J. Piccirilli and her husband Gary E. of Hermitage, Carole L. Yudt and her husband Thomas E. with whom she lived with the past 11 years, her son Gerald T. Lucas and his wife Betty, Brookfield, and her three grandchildren, Amanda Lucas, Jacob and Erin Yudt. She also leaves her 14 grandpets that she loved dearly.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, a sister Bernice F. 'Fran' Czyzyk.
