Geraldine E. Dodds, 95, formerly of Hermitage, passed away peacefully Tuesday evening, April 9, 2019, in North Strabane Rehab and Wellness Center, Canonsburg, PA.
Mrs. Dodds was born July 11, 1923, in Ponca City, OK, a daughter of the late Clarence and Ada (Jones) Brown. She was a graduate of Aurora High School in Missouri.
Geraldine was employed for several years as a bookkeeper at the former Stupka Pontiac in Hermitage. Later, she began working at the former Betty Devine Beauty Shop and then at Megan's Shear Possibilities, both in Farrell.
Geraldine was a member of the American Business Women's Association, Hermitage and served as past treasurer of the former Mercer County Dog Training Club. She was also a member of the ladies auxiliary of Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post #5286, Farrell; American Legion, Post #299, Sharon; the Loyal Order of Moose, Lodge 55; and the Slovenian Home.
She loved traveling and enjoyed many trips with her daughter, Sandy, and son-in-law Don including visits to Hawaii, Puerto Rico, Caribbean cruises, Las Vegas, and various cities in California. She believed you were never too old to try something new and demonstrated that by parasailing in Hawaii (age 80) and snow tubing at Seven Springs (age 82). She also enjoyed many senior junkets to local casinos and playing bingo throughout the Shenango Valley.
She is survived by three daughters, Sandra Wasinger (Koncar) and her husband Don, of Palm Desert, CA; Linda Popivchak (Koncar) and her husband Greg, of Washington, PA; and Kathleen Nagy (Koncar) and her husband Frank (deceased) of Sharpsville; a son, Stanley Koncar, of Fort Myers, FL; five grandchildren, Stephanie and Julianne Popivchak, Christopher (Melissa) Nagy, Amanda (Steven Shepardson) Nagy and Brooke Koncar; and one great grandchild, Wyatt.
In addition to her parents, Geraldine was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Dodds and her former husband, Stanley Koncar, her brothers Wilford and Dale Brown and sister Twila Olsen (Brown) as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
