Obituary

Gerald "Jerry" Ruby, 81, formerly of Farrell, Sharon and Indiana, PA, passed away on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, in Concordia of Cranberry, Mars, PA.

Mr. Ruby was born on January 31, 1944, in Sharon, a son of the late Nick and Rose (Messina) Ruby. He was a 1962 graduate of Farrell High School and earned a bachelor's degree in engineering from Youngstown State University.

Jerry was employed for more than 33 years, retiring in 2002, as the senior operations engineer for Westinghouse Electric Corporation, working at the former Sharon and Blairsville, PA, locations. While working, he was involved in the company's Veterans and Fellowship Associations.

Jerry was a member at St. Thomas More University Parish, Indiana, PA, and a former member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Sharon. Additionally, he was formerly a member of the Cursillo Movement of the Shenango Valley.

An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting and fishing with his brother and friends, and more recently sharing his passion with his grandkids. Jerry also liked to garden, make wine, and canning, especially pasta sauce, which he loved to share as gifts. Above all, he cherished time spent with his grandkids, and attending their ball games, dance recitals and Boy Scout activities.

He married his wife, the former Stephanie Gutowski, on August 20, 1966. He was her dedicated caretaker throughout his life. She survives at home.

Also surviving are two daughters, Christine Scelsi and her husband, Michael, and Monica Harford and her husband, James, all of Cranberry Twp., PA; five grandchildren, Natalie and Nicholas Scelsi, Tyler and Zachary Harford, and Maria Lawson and her children, William and Olivia; and three sisters, Mary Ann Rossi and her husband, Anthony, of Centerville, OH, Kathy Campagna and Corinne Ruby, both of Sharpsville.

In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by his brother, Richard Ruby; and a brother-in-law, Louis Campagna.
