Gerald T. "Jerry" Lucas, 65, of Brookfield passed away with his wife and daughter at his side early Saturday morning, April 6, 2024, in Sharon Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Lucas was born January 14, 1959, in Sharon, a son of the late Leonard J. and Geraldine K. (Kowalski) Lucas. A lifelong area resident, Jerry graduated from Sharon High School in 1976.

He worked for Liberty Steel, Hubbard, OH, and previously worked in the dairy department of Mr. D's Food Fair, Brookfield, OH.

Jerry was of the Catholic faith.

A bird-watching enthusiast, there was rarely a bird he could not identify. Jerry also had a lifelong appreciation for history, especially rare artifacts, documents, or treasures from the past. He had acquired knowledge of various topics throughout his life and excelled at answering Jeopardy questions while watching it on television.

Above all else, he was a dedicated husband and father who loved spending time with family.

His beloved wife of 40 years, Elizabeth "Betty" (Papp) Lucas, whom he married July 2, 1983, survives at home.

Also left to celebrate his life are his daughter, Amanda Lucas (Jim), Brookfield; two sisters, Linda Piccirilli (Gary), Hermitage, and Carole Yudt (Tom), Sharpsville; three nieces, Erin Yudt, Louise Davis, and Chrissy Griffith; and one nephew, Jacob Yudt; and his cat, Zoe. Jerry maintained a dedicated friendship with his high school friends of 48 years, Ed VanTassell, Jeff Sandy, John Harvey, and Nick Bart.
