George Toth of 400 Community Dr. Avon Lake, OH, formerly of Hermitage, passed away on Saturday, November 20, 2010 at 10:20 a.m. in Avenue Assisted Living. He was 89.
Mr. Toth was born in Daisy Town, PA on January 14, 1921, a son of the Joseph and Elizabeth Holic Toth.
He was a graduate of Sharon High School. Following high school he joined the United States Army and served in World War II as a communications specialist.
George retired in 1983 from Sawhill Tubular Division, Mercer Tube after 40 years of employment as a carpenter.
Mr. Toth was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church. He also enjoyed golf, bowling, music, art, and playing the guitar. George was active in the Sawhill Bowling and Golf Leagues and was the secretary for the Sawhill Retiree's Club. He also was a member of the Hickory VFW Post 6166.
His wife, Mary Mikulas Toth, whom he married, June 20, 1953, passed away on November 25, 2000 after 47 years of marriage.
He is survived by 2 daughters, Debra and her husband Richard Chelko of Bay Village, OH, and Susan Roseberry Toth of Coatesville, PA; He was blessed with 4 grandchildren, Erica and Austin Chelko and Paul and Kate Roseberry.
Besides his parents and wife, George was preceded in death by 4 brothers and 5 sisters.
Calling Hours will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, November 26, 2010 in the J. Bradley McGonigle Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. 1090 E. State St. Sharon, PA 16146.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 27, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. in Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, with Rev. Donald Hake. Everyone is asked to go directly to the church for the service.
Internment will be in Holy Trinity Lutheran Cemetery.
