George Allen Porterfield

George Allen Porterfield, 83, of Sharon, passed away Thursday morning, February 12, 2026, in Sharon Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Porterfield was born June 1, 1942, in Sharon, a son of the late Harry and Amelia (Copper) Porterfield, Sr. A lifelong area resident, he attended Sharon High School.

George worked for many years as a truck driver, he was also a subcontractor for the United States Postal Service.

He was a member of the former Fraternal Order of Eagles, Post 327, Sharon.

George had a passion for watching NASCAR races, rooting for the Dallas Cowboys, playing cards and Bingo, vacationing at Geneva on the Lake, going camping, and fishing.

He is survived by his wife, the former Linda Bacon, whom he married July 3, 1996; two daughters, Elaine Greenawalt, and Nanette (John) Ruggles, both of Sharon; two sons, George (Glenda) Porterfield, of Austintown, OH, and Edward (Heather) Porterfield, of Accokeek, MD; two sisters, Elizabeth King, of Sharon and Phyllis Hiles, of Franklin, PA; three brothers, Howard (Eddie) Porterfield, Francis (Laura)Porterfield, both of Sharon, and Frank (Sandy) Porterfield, of Sharpsville; and nine grandchildren, Scott (Hannah) Greenawalt, Ryan Greenawalt, Katelynn (Brian) Miller, Clara Weimer, Jordan Ruggles, Cody Ruggles, Sean Ruggles, Alexis Porterfield, and Edward Porterfield.

In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by four brothers, Harry Porterfield, Jr., Elmer Porterfield, William Porterfield, and James Porterfield; a sister, Alice McKelvey; and two brothers-in-law, Douglas King, and James Hiles.

In keeping with George's wishes, there will be no calling hours or a service.
