Obituary

George A. Krantz, Jr. of Hermitage passed away peacefully Sunday evening (1-1-17) in his home, surrounded by his family, after a ten year battle with leukemia.  He was 76.

Mr. Krantz was born March 15, 1940, in Farrell, a son of George A. Krantz, Sr. and Rose Bauer Krantz.

He was a 1958 graduate of Farrell High School and was a lifelong area resident.

He retired as a general foreman in 1995 from the Sawhill Tubular Products, Sharon, where he was employed for 38 years.

George was a longtime active member of the Church of Notre Dame, Hermitage.

He loved photography, hunting and woodworking and was a car enthusiast.  He also enjoyed extended traveling and was a Penn State and Pittsburgh Steeler football fan.

George was a member of the Italian Home in Farrell and the Sawhill Retirees.

Surviving is his wife, the former Mary Lou Sangregorio, whom he married in October of 1980; two daughters, Laura Jean Carnuche and her husband Joseph, New Wilmington; and Jill Kridler and her husband Frank, Sharon; a son, Eric Krantz, Farrell; four grandchildren, Ashleigh Powell and her companion David Campbell and his daughter Alexis, Hermitage; Dylan Powell and his wife Rebecca, Pittsburgh; Zachary Tobey and his wife Amanda, Virginia Beach, VA; and Ian Tobey and his wife Victoria, Norfolk, VA; 4 great-grandchildren, Ava and Mariska Kiraly, Pittsburgh; Hunter Tobey, Virginia Beach; and Finley Tobey, Norfolk; and many nieces and nephews around the country.

George was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Roseanne Schwartz and her husband William.

The family would like to give special thanks to the Cancer Care Center in Hermitage; Sharon Regional Hospice; and Dr. Sagar Vallabh.

Calling hours will be from
4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, January 4, 2017 , in the Church of Notre Dame, 2325 Highland Rd., Hermitage.

Funeral Mass will be
11 a.m. Thursday, January 5, 2017, in the church, with Rev. Jeffery J. Noble, pastor, as celebrant.

Entombment: St. Rose Cemetery Mausoleum, Hermitage.
